County Executive McCoy Sponsors Documentary Screening and Discussion on Efforts to End Domestic Violence
Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy has always proved to be a strong advocate for crime victims and continues to support public education and advocacy. The county Crime Victim and Sexual Violence Center provides a myriad of services for rape victims including crisis counseling to rape victims and support for victims in area emergency rooms and police stations. As the demand for service has increased over the years, so has the agencys mission. The Center now provides services for victims of violent crime in Albany County. To help continue its advocacy and public education efforts, the Crime Victim and Sexual Violence Center is hosting a brown bag program on February 6 at noon in the Cahill Room of the County Office Building at 112 State Street in Albany. The program will feature remarks by the County Executive and a screening of the documentary Until the Violence Stops. The film documents how the award winning play The Vagina Monologues grew into an international grassroots movement called V-Day, which seeks to end violence against women. Following the screening there will be a discussion on the film and how the community can work together on the issue of domestic violence. Participants are asked to bring a lunch and light refreshments will be served. The program will last approximately 90 minutes. ###
