TYPES: (broad classification)

Resistive: A resistive touch screen panel is coated with a thin metallic electrically conductive and resistive layer. Surface wave: Surface wave technology uses ultrasonic waves that pass over the touch screen panel.

Capacitive: It is coated with a material that stores electrical charges. When the panel is touched, a charge is drawn to the point of contact

LETS BUILD IT UP
There are several principal ways to build a touchscreen. The key goals are to recognize one or more fingers touching a display
Top polyester layer coated with a transparent metallic conductive coating on the bottom Adhesive spacer Glass layer coated with a transparent metallic conductive coating on the top Adhesive layer on the backside of the glass for mounting. When a user touches the surface, the system records the change in the electrical current that flows through the display.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES:

ADVANTAGES:

Easy in operating In trend and appealing to users

DISADVANTAGES:
Finger stress Gorilla arm Very sensitive in nature and hence fragile Inaccurate precision at times

APPLICATIONS
The personal digital assistant (PDA) Satellite navigation devices Mobile phones (HTC, iphones etc) Video games. Public kiosks such as A.T.M , smart card machines etc. Industrial machines for its control Domestic electronic devices.(fridges, grinders etc).
