Studies regarding the elaboration of tungsten nanopowders by mechanical milling process

ABSTRACT The paper aims to present the experimental work concerning the elaboration of tungsten nanopowders by mechanical milling process. For the experimental work commercial tungsten powders with particle size in the range of 20 m were used. The milling process was carried out in a varioplanetary ball mill for 20 hours. From five to five hours were prelevated samples and were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and particle size distribution. The influence of the milling time to the temperature and pressure inside the grinding bowls were studied too. After 20 hours of mechanical milling (MM) it is observed that the particles are in the nanometric range.
