Delta,BC(February5,2013)PARTNERSINEDUCATIONwouldliketomakeitsofficialopening announcement.Ourdesireistopromoteandcollaboratewithpartnersineducationforaprogressive, studentfocusededucationsystem.

TheoverwhelmingcommentsofbipartisansupportthatPartnersInEducationhasreceivedthispastmonth havebeentrulyrewarding.Wehavesomeveryexcitingprojectsdesignedtoemphasizetheimportanceof inclusionandcollaborationindevelopingthehighestlevelinstandardsofeducation. Teacherqualityandfiscalaccountabilityarebigconcernsbeingbroughttoourattentionbyvarious concernedparentsandotherpartnergroupsineducation.Concernsregardingalackofrespectinthe teachingprofessionaswellaslabourstabilityarealsonotedconcerns.Wehavehadanamazingamountof feedbackandsupportfromalloverBC. Basedonthisfeedback,wewouldliketoannounceourfirstroundtablewithJaneThornthwaite,MLA, ParliamentarySecretarytoEducation.TheeventwillbeheldonSaturday,March23rdandwillinclude parentrepresentationaswellasotherpartnergroupsinEducation.Thegoalistoengageparentsand communitymembersindiscussiononthegovernanceofourchildrenseducation.Basedontheamountof interest,wewillbehavingadditionalroundtablesheldduringthesummeraswelooktogrowourteacher representation.Wewouldliketotaketheknowledgegainedfromourfirstroundtableandcreateanaction planforP.I.E.goingforwardaswecontinuetoopenthedialoguearoundstudentfocusededucation. PartnersinEducation(P.I.E.),recognizesagrowingneedforactionintherepresentationofpartnergroups, includingparentsandstudents,intheeducationsystem.ItisthedesireofP.I.E.todevelopalegacyof inclusionandcollaborationwithpartnergroupsintheeducationsystem.P.I.E.believesthattheeducationof studentsandthestabilityofoureconomyshouldnotbejeopardizedbythecollectivebargainingprocess. P.I.E.willendeavouritselftoanattitudeofrespectandresponsibilitytoallpartnersineducation,inthe promotionofideasthatbringbenefittostudents,parentsandteachers,forthepurposeofthedevelopment ofeducationpoliciesforhigherlearning.
