Nishad Khan Discusses the Florida Literacy Coalition

For over 25 years, the Florida Literacy Coalition has provided support and solutions for literacy issues throughout the state. This organization runs more than 300 adult and family programs and services and assists other community-based training initiatives and development activities.

To achieve its mission, the Florida Literacy Coalition operates several initiatives. Having recently celebrated its 29th year, the Florida Literacy Conference serves as a three-day event for teachers and volunteers interested in networking and learning new ways to approach this problem.

The entity offers grants and free material to trainers so that they may better reach their students. . Additionally, the Annual Leadership Institute functions as an intensive two-day gathering with training sessions and workshops.

Another way the Florida Literacy Coalition engages in community relations is by encouraging student involvement with ambassador programs; adult learner essay contests; and the annual Adult Learner Day, which recognizes remarkable pupils.
