Making Histor y: 30 Initiated Fall 2012

with Donna Elazar, who recruited Freshman Leaders in Service during the summer. Other members encouraged friends and relatives to join, and before we knew it, a crowd of 40 students piled into the York Room for the Pinning Ceremony. This is one of the largest pledge classes Alpha Delta Mu has had in years. The pledge process was certainly hectic at times, as most Bigs ended up with three to four Littles, but overall it was an amazing rewarding experience. By November, we had retained 30, who were initiated into the brotherhood in November. Now, our numbers have grown to 27 actives and 12 associates. In this issue:

Sectionals/Nationals 2 Update!

Early in September 2012, Alpha Delta Mu was down to 11 members, eight of them seniors. It was obvious that we had to kick it up a notch and recruit like crazy for Rush Week. APO was suddenly known around Ramapo like never before. It started at Freshman Orientations, with pages of interested students. Welcome Week was also successful in spreading the word. However, our most powerful assets were our own brothers: Jonathan Lopes, an RA in Pine Hall, who encouraged the entire residence to come out to rush events, along

Transitioning from a small chapter hovering around six to ten members to a large chapter of 40 is an adjustment. Yet while there have been obstacles along the way, our chapter has been able to do some wonderful things with the increase in members, ranging from effective committees, larger fellowships, an increase in service projects, and a sense of brotherhood.

Our Rush Week this semester was fun for all! We had a wonderful mix of leadership, friendship and service! Included in the week were two service projects, Project Linus and Spring for Children, and three fellowships, an APO Meet and Greet, a Game Night, and an Open Mic. We also had an information session which gave interested members a chance to ask important questions. We had our pinning ceremony on Sunday, February 10 and now have 10 new interest members! We look forward to helping these 10 NIMs grow and learn more about what it means to be a brother in Alpha Phi Omega!

Member of the Month: Victoria Antropow

Victoria is a second semester first-year student. During her time as a new interest member, Victoria served as the pledge treasurer and attended the annual National APO Conference in Anaheim, California. She is one of two active brothers of the Alpha Delta Mu chapter to attend the prestigious convention in several years. Furthermore, Victoria is the epitome of potential, becoming proactive and joining several committees, including the membership, finance, and historian committees. Victoria is a future APO and RCNJ star!

Conference Success! Alpha Delta Mu Represents!

Sectionals 101-102:
Stevens Institute of Technology hosted the Section 101 APO annual conference on November 10th. The Alpha Delta Mu chapter returned to RCNJ with the Service Girl and Jack Cantor Leader awards. The Jack Cantor Award was first given to our brother Matt Kobza Spring 2012 and Fall 2012 was co-awarded to Francesca Baratta and a brother from Drew University. Within two semesters, the Alpha Delta Mu chapter has expanded in membership, notoriety, and influence within Ramapo, Alpha Phi Omega and most importantly, the community.

Nationals:
Alpha Phi Omega National Convention 2012 in Anaheim, California was an unforgettable experience that allowed for further growth of the organization. Throughout the four days, the brothers were able to bond through our favorite activity: service. Some of the specific service projects that were very successful were the fundraiser for the Hurricane Sandy Relief Program as well as handmade paper snowflakes for the children at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Also, an exciting moment for one of our brothers was when Donna Elazar was inducted into the Society of Life Membership! Nationals was the time to shine which is exactly what Donna Elazar and Victoria Antropow did during their time at the convention especially while on the legislative floor as representatives for the chapter.
