Begin the outline of the rose by lightly drawing a slightly slanted line about an inch long in the direction

you want the rose to face.

Lightly draw a small loose circle, about a few centimeters big, at the top end of the slanted line. This is where the center of the rose will be. Then lightly draw a much larger circle that is big enough to envelop the line and the small circle. This larger circle should touch the bottom end of the line but there should be a little space between the smaller circle and the edge of the larger circle. This outlines how big the rose will be.

Starting at the center point of the small circle, begin drawing the rose by drawing two very loosely drawn circles that attach to each other (it should almost look like a tiny heart, then draw another three or four other circles surrounding the center circles. These are the innermost petals. They can all vary in shape in size and are all very free-form.

As you move out from the center, the petals become larger. To begin, draw two petals to surround the center bulb. These no longer have a circle-like shape, but a more fragmented curvy/ wavy lines.

Draw the other petals surrounding the center. As you move out, overlap them, and create them as loosely and fragmented as possible. Depending on how you began your outline, there should look like there are more petals on the bottom end of the outline, opposite of where the center is at. There is no right way to draw the form of the petals, so dont worry about making them perfect.

Continue drawing and overlapping the petals until you fill the largest circle of the outline from where you started, or until you reach the desired size of your rose.
