Character whom I dislike

Based on the thrilling yet touching novel, Around The World In 80 Days by Jules Verne,a character whom I dislike is Detective Fix. He is a physically short detective employed by the Bank of England on a mission to arrest the bank robber. Fix mistakenly thinks that Fogg, who is, at the moment, on a tremendous adventure around the world in 80 days, as the wanted bank robber and is traveling all around the world just to run away from justice.

The detective comes a hasty conclusion that Phileas Fogg is the bank robber based only on a very general description. He does not observe carefully the behavior and actions of Fogg. If he had done so, he could have come to the correct conclusion .He would have realized that Fogg is a perfectly honest gentleman. I think Detective Fix's judgement is clouded by the reward that is waiting the person who catches the robber. For this reason, I believe that he wanted to catch someone and he chose Fogg quickly based on the very brief description of the bank robber which could have been anyone.

Fix gives his all to take Fogg down. Fix tries to get a warrant to arrest Fogg. However, getting a warrant consumes some time. Therefore, he decides to follow Fogg around the world.He puts many hurdles in Fogg's path in order to delay him but Fogg does not realize that Fix is trying to deter his plans to meet the deadline.Fix even makes friends with Fogg's buttler, Passepartout.He gets information about Fogg's every move from him. He does many deceitful things to Fogg and also Passepartout. Fix finaly succeeded with his mission when Fogg is jailed in Liverpool. I think, as a detective, Fix should have gathered more information about Fogg and confront him if he truly believes that Fogg is the man that he's been searching for. The examples above show how I dislike Detective Fix in this heart stomping yet novel. I learnt to always be in cautious mode in every single little thing I do to produce a much more respected me in the future.
