THE MANUAL METHOD OF STITCHING THE SOLE

FOUETTE, VAGANOVA and ELITE styles are completely handmade. This handmade technology allows a craftsman to secure tall layers of the box material together. This method results in a strong box and a durable Pointe shoe. This can give the dancer great support.

By manually hammering a Pointe shoe box (treating a shoe with a specific hammer) a craftsman evenly distributes glue inside a box in order to make it strong and smooth. Rigorous attention is given to the platform which is responsible for stability and ensures GRISHKO shoes perfect balance.

EXAM
The EXAM (sometimes called Soft Block or Demi Pointe) style is based on Fouette, Vaganova, Elite, Grishko-2007 lasts with a sole made of smooth leather or suede with a drawstring. The style has a soft insole, but it is firmer than a regular ballet shoe, in order to help strengthen the foot. The Pointe shoe is designed specifically to prepare children for working on Pointe, by strengthening their forefoot, improving ankle stability and balance and getting a foot accustomed to work in harder and more confined space of a Pointe shoe. HOW TO FIND YOUR RIGHT SIZE

The shoe size depends on the foot length. Wearing your socks or tights stand on a sheet of paper. Distribute your weight evenly on both feet. Ask the person helping you to hold a pencil or a pen vertically and exactly outline each of your feet (picture 1). Draw parallel lines across the most protruding points of the toe and heel (picture 2a or 2b, depending on the foot structure), and measure the distance between them. Different kinds of shoe have different sizing. Find your measurement in the table and the size corresponding to it. To order a custom-made shoe, in addition to foot length (picture 2), you should also measure your foot circumference (picture 3) and instep circumference (picture 4). Attention! This table is only a guide and does not guarantee 100% precision, as the size of a dance shoe, especially of a ballet Pointe shoe, to a great extent depends on individual features of the foot. Ballet Pointe shoes should really be fitted in your local professional shop each time you purchase them, to ensure the closest possible fit, as each pair is hand made, your feet change shape with Pointe work and Grishko Pointe shoes are designed to fit your foot very closely like a glove. Recommendation: If you intend using toe pads, always take them with you for your fitting, so the correct size shoe can be chosen. Ensure that your Pointe shoes fit you very snugly, that your toes are straight in the box, touching the end of the box gently, and that your metatarsal heads are firmly held inside the box of the shoe. No bones should be sticking out above the box. To find your exact size you should try on and purchase the shoe you need at your local store.
