CHAPTER III RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

A. The Objective of The Research The goals of this research are to know the difficulty level and discriminating power of the items, to know the quality of the items, and to know the items should be kept, revised or discarded.

B. The Method of The Research In doing the method of the research the writer uses quantitative analysis and qualitive analysis method. Quantitative analysis is used in analyzing data of the difficulty level and discriminating power. This analysis is used to detect the test item whether it is good or not. It means, qualitative analysis is used to analyze farther about causes of the weaknesses of the items.

C. Time And Place The English summative test for the second year at SMK Rahayu Mulyo Jakarta was held on June 12th, 2012. The location of SMK Rahayu Mulyo Jakarta is at Jl. Raya Bogor in front of Pusdikkes Kramat Jati Jakarta Timur.
