Associated Student Government University of Arkansas ASG Senate Resolution No. 48 Author: Senator Joe Kieklak Sponsors: Senator Mark Cameron, Senator Ashton Williams A Resolution for Expanded Housing Options Whereas, University Housing attempts to provide personal development of its students; and The University of Arkansas has committed its efforts to providing a YOU of A atmosphere, which means that no students are excluded and the University will maximize potential by providing a comfortable learning experience; and Gender-Neutral Housing would allow for better cooperation among students with displayed needs and provide a more comfortable living situation for those students by allowing different biological genders to live together in designated areas on campus; and The University of Arkansas could provide an accountable system of GNH similar to more than (50) universities, such as University of California-Riverside, University of Maryland-College Park, Oregon State University, University of Michigan, and Dartmouth College, to prevent opportunistic use by those who do not meet University Housing guidelines; and The University of Tennessee Student Government Association recently passed a resolution in support of this option; then The Associated Student Government supports the implementation of a GNH option in the nearby future; and ASG supports a strict and detailed application process for students that would like to participate in GNH.
