[Insert Date] Dear Parents, I am writing to inform you of an unfortunate incident which occurred at our school today.

An intruder came on school grounds with the intention of inflicting harm to our children. While we hoped to never have to use our crisis procedures, we were prepared and have taken every measure to insure that all of our students are safe. Students were evacuated from the building in an orderly and timely manner, and transported to Englewood Elementary School. The Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools Traumatic Event Debriefing Team (TED) will be in place at our school for an extended period to help any students who may be having difficulty dealing with this crisis. Our school counselor, Mrs. Mary Mebane, is also available for this purpose. We want to make sure our children can transition back into a normal routine as soon as possible.
