Associated Student Government University of Arkansas ASG Senate Bill No. 27 Author: Senator Will Hansen Sponsors: Senator Will Hansen, Senator Will Simpson, Senator Amy May West, Senator Ashton Dawson, Senator Cathryn Fleener, Senator Tim Tucker, Senator Roxanne Hazelwood, Senator Autumn Lewis An Act Calling for the Creation for a Traditions Council Whereas, Whereas, The University of Arkansas has many traditions that we as students hold dear and that future students look forward to; and Currently, traditions are left to live or die on their own and there is no governing body that looks over and manages the traditions of the University of Arkansas; and A Council should be created to maintain, regulate, and encourage old traditions while helping to create new ones for the future; and The creation of the Traditions Council will serve to manage the traditions of the University of Arkansas; then The Associated Student Government shall, in partnership with the Student Alumni Board, create a Traditions council; and The council shall be co-chaired by the ASG Vice President and the SAB Director of Traditions; and The council shall consist of a total of eight members: ASG Vice President, SAB Director of Traditions, two ASG Senators, two student members voted on by the SAB, and two alumni voted on by the SAB; and This council will be responsible for all University traditions including, but not limited to, Class Ring, Senior Walk maintenance, and other related traditions; and To ensure serious and hardworking students get involved with the Traditions Council, Jostens has pledged to provide free class rings to the students who are part of the council.
