Associated Student Government University of Arkansas ASG Senate Resolution No. 50 Author: Senator Michael Powers Sponsors: Senator Joe Kieklak, Senator Mark Cameron A Resolution to Support Soft Closing of Dickson Street Establishments Whereas, Fayetteville businesses are required to stop alcohol sales by 2:00 a.m.; and Fayetteville businesses are not required to close by 2:00 a.m.; and Dickson Street area bars are highly popular among University of Arkansas students; and The closing of businesses at the same time as last call for alcohol means all patrons are required to leave the premises; and The soft closure of Dickson bars would mean businesses would retain last call to 2:00 a.m., but remain open until 3:00 a.m.; and The soft closure of Dickson bars would allow patrons more time to arrange safe rides, and lessen the rush of pedestrian and vehicular traffic; and The Associated Student Government aims to aid students as well as support community safety; then The Associated Student Government supports the soft closure of Dickson Street area bars to promote community safety.
