KDHE Bureau of Waste Management hosted the 19th Annual WORKS! Conference this week in Manhattan at the Hilton Garden Inn Conference Center. The conference theme was Safety in the Work Place. Sessions focused on recycling, composting and household hazardous waste. Highlights included Kansas State University football coach Bill Snyder as a keynote speaker, a Hazards of Electricity demonstration by Westar and vendor booths. In addition, the conference hosted bus tours to Manhattan area facilities such as the Riley County Household Hazardous Waste facility and the Kansas State University Composting and Recycling facilities. KDHE Secretary and State Health Officer Robert Moser, M.D., was present to induct William Bill Ridge into the Kansas Solid Waste Hall of Fame. It was an educational and fun week!
