Ask the students about what happened to the house from Thing 1 and Thing 2. 9. Once the story is over, refresh them on what rhyming words we heard during the book. 10. Show them the Cat in the Hat Chart and explain how to play it. 11. After explaining the Rhyme Game to them, have them go to centers by what color they are wearing. 12. Once they are in centers around the room, call over five students to pay the game with me at a center. 13. After they get the hang of the game, give them extra flash cards to work with to make it more challenging. 14. Allow them to play in the center until they fully grasp the concept of rhyme. 15. Call a new group to teach the game to and repeat until all students have rotated through the center. 16. Once center time is over, ask them to clean up their stations and go back to their seats.

Accommodations: I will have KaMiyah, who wears glasses, to sit closer to the front of the rug where I will be displaying the book so that she will not have any trouble seeing the pictures or words. For early finishers, I will have them move on to a new center. 8. References: SC Common Core Standards Dr. Seuss
