Asakusa Sensoji and the Amuse Museum

One of the many things you must do when you visit Tokyo is go to the Asakusa district, with the incredible Sensoji Buddhist temple, with its stunning architecture and its cultural significance, and the remarkable Amuse Museum, featuring articles of clothing from the last few centuries in the exhibition Boro. But that is not all, as the district also provides views of many landmarks buildings in Tokyo. The road leading up to the Sensoji Temple is known as Nakamise Dori, and is bordered shops and stalls galore, selling food, souvenirs, and all kinds of interesting curios and knick-knacks. The road begins with a colossal gate. Known as Kaminarimon gate, the chochin (a large red paper lantern with kanji written on them) is one of the most symbolic in all of Japan. The Sensoji temple itself is a magnificent piece of architecture. The chochin rivals that of Kaminarimon and the Kanon (a golden statue that was pulled from the river) is one the largest in the world. The Amuse Museum houses some of the late 18th century and early 19th century clothing that has been patched, repaired and repatched over generations of use. The Boro clothing that has been expertly collected by chu Tanaka is simply amazing and is expertly maintained and him and his crew. The kimonos, undergarments, and Donjas (large blankets that are kimonos in appearance but are actually very warm) are preserved from destruction and loss by Tanaka and his team. This museum is truly a place worth seeing. The views of the city are spectacular, with views of the Tokyo Skytree and the gub, [insert true name] the Asakusa district is situated in a perfect place to enjoy many of the amazing buildings in Tokyo. So whether you like the architecture, the culture, or the boro, the Asakusa district is truly a place you should visit the next time you visit Tokyo.
