Abstract The measurement of electrical conductivity is highly dependent on electrical field strength. This paper is focused on comparative study of conductivity measurement of oil immersed pressboard (OIP) under different field strength. Measurements of electrical conductivity for insulating oil also would be done, as a comparison. The dielectric interface configurations experiment consists of oil immersed pressboard operated under oil in a test vessel. The pressboard samples would be placed on a grounded plane under live electrode. Rounded electrode with radius 3mm would be used as live electrode. For this experiment, the solid dielectric are oil immersed transformerboard type B 3.1A with 2 mm thickness operated under mineral oil, Nynas Nytro 4000x. The pressboard and mineral oil used in the experiment would be in dry condition with moisture level < 0.5% and <10 ppm respectively. The test vessel and test procedure for OIP were set up according to IEC 60093 standard. Meanwhile for oil conductivity would be performed according to IEC 60247 standard. The test voltages in this experiment would be varied between 1 kV, 2 kV, 2.5 kV, 5 kV and 10 kV to get different field strengths for both samples. The electrification time for volume conductivity of oil immersed pressboard takes longer time. Finally the results will demonstrate the effect of different electric field strength applied for conductivity measurement of oil immersed pressboard and oil.
