This program supports LEA projects that are designed to address violence and related issues, such as gang activity,
in schools operated by the LEA that have been identified by the state (consistent with the requirements in ESEA,
Sec. 9532) as persistently dangerous. Eligible LEAs may also propose activities that address violence and related
issues in schools in the LEA that are at risk of becoming persistently dangerous based on objective criteria under
the state's definition of persistently dangerous, and systemwide activities that would prevent other schools
operated by the LEA from being identified as persistently dangerous in the future.
