Week 1 | Lesson 3

Author: Maryjo Comparan Lesson Title: Goal Trading Cards Discuss and understand the 5 Health Related Fitness Components and compare individual student results with the CA Fitnessgram Performance Standards. Student will complete Timed Mile, and record their height and weight using the Fleetly Fitness app, and monitor their fitness performance. Student will use an online app called Trading Cards to develop vocabulary cards using the 5 Health Related Fitness Components. Grade Level: 6th Subject: Physical Education OBJECTIVE (S) INTELLIGENCES
Standard Objectives: 1. Students will be able to verbally explain and demonstrate their understanding of the 5 Health Related Fitness Components while compared to the CA Fitnessgram Performance Standards by completing vocabulary trading cards.

CA Fitnessgram Performance Standards Trading Cards App

P.E. CA 6th Grade Standards Standard 3: Students assess and maintain a level of physical fitness to improve health and performance. 3.1 Assess the components of healthrelated physical fitness (muscle strength, muscle endurance, flexibility, aerobic capacity, and body composition) by using a scientifically based healthrelated fitness assessment. 3.2 Compare individual physical fitness results with research-based standards for good health.

Procedure
Day 1: 1. Anticipatory Set (5-7min) A. APK: Inform Students that they will be creating online vocabulary cards with the information from their mind map they created in a previous lesson. 2. I Do Introduction (Direct Instruction) (5-10min) Discuss the Trading Cards app and demonstrate how to create a card. Students will be able to access their mind maps to use information they gathered. 3. We Do (10min) With mobile devices or laptop; students will access trading Intrapersonal, Visual, Kinesthetic, Naturalist

cards app. Students will be making at least 5 cards. Create a user name, and choose to create a card, title your card (flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, muscle endurance, muscle strength, body composition, etc.). Choose a type of card, and for this activity, student will choose VOCABULARY, begin filling in the blanks of the card. Students can change the card design if desired. 4. You Do (Rest of class time) Students will work with table groups and repeat the process with their table for the remainder of the vocabulary terms. Teacher will walk around and monitor students progress with additional information and redirection as needed. Student will share cards with each other but email or photos. Each student may choose two cards to print it out. Each table should collaboratively have a at least 10 cards with two trading cards of each vocabulary word. More cards can be printed depending on resources. 5. Closure/Assessment: Students will respond on sticky note and place in a box or container before learning class.
