APRIL 8, 2013
This week was full of excitement, with our PE Celebration of Learning, Vishnus birthday, and the start of an exciting new unit in social studies on sustainable energy. They put together data results from an experiment in math, and they put together information from their diligent research as they planned for the news articles they will draft next week. There was a lot of thinking going on this week: students observed, researched, questioned, shared, and synthesized. Enjoy your long weekend and your Chakri Day - no school on Monday!

Social Studies - we will continue our investigative work into the causes and possible eects of human-impacted climate change over the last 100 years or so. Students have already interpreted graphs from the past 200 years and concluded that humans use of nonrenewable fossil fuels on personal and industrial scales has had an immense impact on the amount of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. Next week we will dive into understanding and evaluating various renewable energy sources as solutions for a sustainable future. Keep an eye on their blogs and our class blog! F day - reading buddies
Reading and writing - now that the hard work of collecting, synthesizing, and organizing information is nished, we will build cohesive drafts of our research articles on Google Drive. Math - we will investigate and experiment with the concept of probability, from 50-50 chances to more complicated situations using spinners and dice to observe probability in action. Students will apply data analysis skills to interpret probability situations.
