At the end of our nursing care plan, the caregiver/ parents will Verbalized the understanding of individual risk factors that contribute to possibility of risk injury Take steps to correct identified risk Understand the importance of protecting the child from hazard Understand the safety precautions involve Verbalized some appropriate procedures

Identify individual risk factors; e.g seizure, fluid deficit

Provides opportunity to modify environment/ eliminate factors that place child at risk Skin/tissues are more fragile and greater risk for damage Permits monitoring of childs well being, allows for timely interventions

Handle child gently. Limit use or release restrain Provide appropriate level of supervision

Initiate safety precautions as individually appropriate; e.g bed low in position, padded side rails, remove any hazardous material away Review home situation for safety hazard. Ascertain parents/caregivers knowledge of safety needs, injury prevention in home setting.

Preventing injuries and complications is a prime responsibility of parents and caregivers

Promote a safe environment

Encourage parents/ caregiver to learn cardiopulmonary resuscitation and individually appropriate procedures or emergency interventions

Being prepared for emergencies promotes confidence for adults and children in their own ability to deal with their situation
