Associated Student Government University of Arkansas ASG Senate Resolution No. 62 Author: Senator Madeleine Forrest Sponsor: Senator Michael Powers A Resolution to Support Interlibrary Loan Use for Graduate Students in Obtaining Books Required by Syllabi Whereas, Students are not allowed to use Interlibrary Loan to obtain any reading material marked as a textbook on syllabi; and Graduate students classes in Humanities programs typically require at least ten (10) to twenty (20) books per class per semester; and At the current time, graduate students are not able to request books found on syllabi via Interlibrary Loan because they are classified as textbooks; and This is true even if the books are not actual textbooks, but monographs; and Mullins Library typically only owns one copy of each book and sometimes does not own a copy at all; and It is extremely expensive for graduate students to buy all the necessary books required for each semester; then The Associated Student Government supports the proposed agreement with Mullins Library and the Interlibrary Loan Office to allow graduate students to request books even if they are found on syllabi.
