GUIDE FOR A SUCCESSFUL YEAR IN SPANISH CLASS

Hola y bienvenidos! Spanish 1A is an introductory course to Spanish in which you will study beginning level vocabulary and grammar. You will learn about the culture of many Spanish-speaking countries around the world and develop your listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in Spanish. In our class you can be successful by actively participating in a positive manner and keeping the following in mind:
1. Classroom rules: Be on time and hand in your work on time. Be prepared (binder, folder, pen, handouts, homework, etc.) Show respect for everyone (yourself, your classmates and your teacher). Make sure to ask for permission before using anything that does not belong to you and return it

in the same condition you found it. Remember, electronic devices like cell phones and personal mp3 players are not permitted in the classroom. Keep the room clean at all times. In order to avoid unnecessary untidiness no food is permitted in the classroom and you are to clean up your workstation before leaving. Listen and follow directions attentively. Participate! But also be courteous and raise your hand before speaking. Be mindful and listen when your classmates and/or teacher are speaking. See me immediately if you have a question, a doubt or a concern. I am always here to help you do your best and succeed.

2. Daily Procedures: Be prepared to show a pass if walking in late. Make the most of our class time by sitting down as soon as you walk in, copying homework

assignments into your agenda, and working on your Do Now assignment.

Stay on task (follow along, answer questions when asked and listen to others) at all times.
When the bell rings, remember to wait for your teacher to dismiss you.

3. Consequences:

All consequences for disregarding rules and procedures will be fair and may include the following: Conference with student & phone call to parent/guardian Loss of class participation points Detention with teacher Parent-Teacher Conference Referral
4. Homework, Projects & Absences: Homework will be assigned regularly

and should be completed at home and presented in class on the day the assignment is due. No late homework will be accepted.
Homework can be found on our class website, http://profesoraluciano.weebly.com/, under the tab Homework & Projects: Spanish 1A.

If projects or essays are handed in late, points will be taken off for each day. No work may be made up during the last week of the quarter.
If you are absent from school, it is your responsibility to find out what homework assignment/quiz/notes you missed. Assignments are usually due within two days of your return, depending on the circumstances of your absence.

5. Extra Help: Extra help is available after school on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in room 302 from

2:20 to 3:00pm by appointment. If you need help with a particular topic or assignment, please let me know in advance when you plan on attending extra help so that I can prepare materials and resources that will meet your specific needs.
