Joanne Zuhl, Editor Street Roots 211 NW Davis Portland, OR 97209 5032285657 25 March 2013 Joanne Zuhl: I am applying for the internship position as copy editor with your newspaper, Street Roots. I became aware of the position while searching for internship opportunities online. I have been looking for work experience that combines two interests of mine: editing and helping the homeless. Your copy editor position seems like the perfect fit. I am a great candidate for the internship because not only am I experienced in editing, but I am also passionate about working with the homeless. Of all the street papers I researched, your newspaper stuck out to me the most because Portland is the city that first introduced me to homelessness. I have often passed through Portland on the way to the coast, and observing the great need of the homeless community in your city has sparked within me a desire to help. I believe that I will be very helpful and effective if selected for the position. In high school I was editor of both my high schools newspaper and yearbook. Additionally, I have taken many university courses that have honed my editing skills. I have a great eye for detail, and a desire to do things correctly. Also, as my rsum indicates, I have worked with a wide spectrum of people and personalities: from junior high volleyball players, to special needs students, to Alaskan fishermen. I know that I will be a great fit for your copy editor internship position; a position that I believe will be an invaluable and amazing experience. I can most easily be contacted for an interview in the evening via phone at 2083163013. Sincerely,
enny Perron
