Planning
1. Identify Question or Problem and Specify Learning Objectives -When choosing a question be sure to pick one that has a variable that can be manipulated. Learning objectives for this model are solving the problem, learning critical-thinking skills, find relationships within the concept 2. Plan for Data Gathering -you must plan how the students are going to conduct the experiment, what materials will be needed, provide instruction for how to properly gather data, and any other aspects specific to the problem selected

Implementing
Phase 1: Identify Question -ideally a student will present a question during a learning activity, however the teacher may just present the question. State it clearly, display the question, and be sure that the students understand the concept Phase 2: Generate Hypotheses -once the question has been determined have the students think of an answer, their hypothesis Phase 3: Gather and Display Data: -before the students begin gathering data, be sure they understand the concept of variables and controlled variables. Conduct experiment, and then display the data for all students to see so they may talk about it Phase 4: Assess Hypotheses and Generalize -once all the data is collected the teacher will go back through and talk about what the students found and what generalizations they can make bases on their findings.

Assessing
Assessing the Inquiry Model Teacher may present a case study to the students and have them come up with a hypothesis and gather data from the study The Teacher may present a hypothesis along with proposed data and the student must go through as write if the data supports the explanation or is un-related Can use the same assessment as the ProblemBased model

Motivation
Mini-Inquiry lessons can occur spontaneously, especially when students cant find a clear answer. These are highly motivating because the question came from a student, cooperation comes from thinking of creative hypotheses, students become very interested in wanting to solve the question, shows students a direct relation to what they are learning

So what? What is important to understand about this?

The Inquiry Model is used to build on a lesson when a question arises; this can be a teacher or student question. Students use the scientific method to answer the question
