Rational functions:
Excluded value is any x-value that makes the function value y undefined. For a rational function, an excluded value is any value that makes the denominator equal to 0.
Discontinuous functions, meaning their graphs contain one or more jumps, breaks, or holes. This occurs at an excluded value.
An asymptote is a line that a graph gets closer to as the absolute value of a variable increases. A graph will get closer and closer but never touch an asymptote.
Excluded Value?
HW p639 #2-11
Warm Up
1. Factor: 3x2 7x 6 2. Solve: 2x2 13x = -11 3. How many solutions does this equation have? 10x = 5 + 2x2
