Overall Comments:
Hope is well on her way to becoming an excellent and effective teacher. She has a natural rapport with the students, and as she gains more confidence in her own skills, her classroom management is becoming more and more effective. I wish you the best of luck for the rest of this year, and for all your future years in teaching. You will be missed in this classroom!

Comments (Please elaborate on strengths/areas for growth): Expectations are always clearly outlined and time taken to ensure that the students understand these expectations. Her lessons are planned in a logical and sequential format, and time is always allocated for individual assistance when needed. Hope understands the need for a variety of assessment strategies, especially in terms of the needs of a class with a high percentage of IEP'd students. Preassessment of the students is ongoing, but she is showing growth in this area, and the understanding that it is necessary to find out as much as possible about the individual students before accurate assessments can be given. The opportunity to sit in on parent-teacher interviews has helped in this area. She consistently motivates the students with the use of introductory comments and pulling on their prior knowledge. Her use of leading questions during class discussion is excellent.

4.b) Professional Knowledge - Implementing and Assessing Engages the students through an introductory activity Uses instructional strategies which facilitate learning Uses technologies and resources Consolidates and provides an application that solidifies the learning Uses assessment strategies/recording devices Aware of pacing and timing and the need to be flexible

Comments (Please elaborate on strengths/areas for growth): Hope has a very personable teaching style. She augments this using various materials and technology (in particular an effective use of slide shows and power points, as well as video links). Her pace and volume are consistent, relaxed and audible, allowing the students to easily follow her lessons. Her style and approach to delivering lessons will only improve with time and practice, she is well on her way to becoming an excellent teacher.

5. Management and Communication Practices Models communication practices (voice, spoken/written language,...) Uses questioning techniques (Bloom's, probes, prompts, wait time,...) Comments (Please elaborate on strengths/areas for growth): Hope consistently uses effective communication techniques to enhance the delivery of her lessons. She is very good at engaging the students through her questioning techniques. She consistently promotes a risk-free learning environment, and the students feel comfortable in participating in class discussions. She does well at reinforcing positive behaviour. Hope still needs to make some improvements in her classroom management strategies, but is improving with time. She needs to be more confident in her knowledge that she can and should take charge when certain students are "acting out", but this too comes with time and practice, and she is getting better every day.
