INTRODUCTION
Hero Honda CBZ , launched in early 1999 by Hero Honda Motors, with an original Honda 156.8 cc engine. The styling of the bike was a scaled version of the famous Honda CB series. The over-square engine, that met Euro1, was fed by a Keihin slide type carburetor with accelerator pump for better pick-up. It makes use of a larger spring operated nozzle to provide a richer fuel air mixture into the engine for better acceleration. An air injection system injects fresh air into the exhaust port, to meet the emission norms. The model went unchanged more or less for 5 years.In 2004 a new variant called CBZ* (star) featuring new graphics was introduced to boost sales. The bike did not feature any engine or performance upgrades. The only change was in its carburetor, it was changed from the Sliding Type carburetor to a conventional CV carburetor, which increased the fuel-efficiency but hampered the pick-up, the greatest feature of the bike. The bike was discontinued after 2005 September. The CBZ was followed after a gap of two years by the CBZ-Xtreme which was a totally new product platform featuring a Honda 149 cc engine and five-speed gearbox.

CBZ X-treme
In 2007, a new variant featuring the existing Honda Unicorn's 149 cc engine was introduced. This was priced higher than the company's Achiever model. Nevertheless, this bike did not feature a mono-shock suspension. The bike has undergone a major visual makeover in late 2008 and is the more expensive 150 cc offering from Hero Honda compared to the Hunk, which features the same power train

Company profile:
Hero is the brand name used by the Munjal brothers for their flagship company Hero Cycles Ltd. A joint venture between the Hero Group and Honda Motor Company was established in 1984 as the Hero Honda Motors Limited At Dharuhera India. Munjal family and Honda group both own 26% stake in the Company. In 2010, it was reported that Honda planned to sell its stake in the venture to the Munjal family. During the 1980s, the company introduced motorcycles that were popular in India for their fuel economy and low cost. A popular advertising campaign based on the slogan 'Fill it - Shut it - Forget it' that emphasised the motorcycle's fuel efficiency helped the company grow at a double-digit pace since inception. The technology in the bikes of Hero Honda for almost 26 years (19842010) has come from the Japanese counterpart Honda [11] Hero MotoCorp has three manufacturing facilities based at Dharuhera, Gurgaon in Haryana and at Haridwar in Uttarakhand. These plants together are capable of churning out 3 million bikes per year.[12] Hero MotoCorp has a large sales and service

Hero Honda CBZ X treme network with over 3,000 dealerships and service points across India. Hero Honda has a customer loyalty program since 2000,[13] called the Hero Honda Passport Program. The company has a stated aim of achieving revenues of $10 billion and volumes of 10 million two-wheelers by 2016-17. This in conjunction with new countries where they can now market their two-wheelers following the disengagement from Honda, Hero MotoCorp hopes to achieve 10 per cent of their revenues from international markets, and they expected to launch sales in Nigeria by end-2011 or early-2012. In addition, to cope with the new demand over the coming half decade, the company was going to build their fourth factory in South India and their fifth factory in Western India. There is no confirmation where the factories would be built.

INTRODUCTION TO MARKETING "Marketing is the process of planning and executing the conception, pricing, promotion, and distribution of ideas, goods, services, organizations, and events to create and maintain relationships that will satisfy individual and organizational objectives." The new definition of marketing, as released by the American Marketing Association is:-Marketing is an organizational function and a set of processes for creating, communicating and delivering value to customers and for managing customer relationships in ways that benefit the organization and its stakeholders. "Marketing is a social and managerial process by which individuals and groups obtain what they need and want through creating and exchanging products and value with others." (Kotler & Armstrong 1987)The Mission of marketing is satisfying customer needs. That takes place in a social context. In developed societies marketing is needed in order to satisfy the needs of society's members. Industry is the tool of society to produce products for the satisfaction of needs. Marketing is one of the most important functions in business. It is the discipline required to understand customers' needs and the benefits they seek. Marketing analysis:
Hero Honda Motors (India) Ltd. is the World's biggest manufacturer of motorcycles (by quantity). Starting as a bicycle company, it set up a 50/50 joint venture, set up in 1984 with Honda Japan, to manufacture and sell motorcycles in India. Honda brought in the technological know-how, and Hero the India presence, and the local manufacturing ability. They also established dealerships al over the country even rural areas .The strategy of Hero Honda Motors was to capture the market by offering asuperior product at an affordable price, with excellent customer service.(Right cost) The strategy has been successful to date and Hero Honda Motors (India) Ltd.is the dominant market leader with over 50% of market share, ahead of closest competitors Bajaj (Kawasaki JV) and TVS-Suzuki. The researcher hopes that the findings of this report will assist the organization to improve on its prevailing service to ensure the best possible customer satisfaction. Exports market is yet to be properly exploited. Cruiser bike segment is unexplored by HHML. Variants can be launched to increase the market share. Hero Honda is the most reliable bike manufacturer in India strong brand follower.

Threats
Hero Honda will need to have a bigger presence in the executive segment. It will be a great threat for Hero is the collaboration breaks up. All major bike makers in the world are lining up for India. Absence in 150cc could harm the growth plans of HHML as future lies in the150cc and 125cc markets. Low cash reserves. Strong competition from Bajaj, Yamaha & TVS.

Launching of product:

An air injection system injects fresh air into the exhaust port, to meet the emission norms. Hero Honda will soon come up with a refreshed cbz X-treme. As typical of any upgraded bike, new CBZ Xtreme will get new stickers and body graphics over its body panels. But the upgrade is not just limited to body panels the heart will also see a upgrade. The new CBZ X-treme will get the Hero Hondas ATFT (Advanced Tumble Flow induction technology) which we first seen in Hero Honda Hunk. The new CBZ X-treme will also get tuff-up tube in the rear wheel. This proven puncture resistant technology first seen in Hondas Unicorn which minimizes the incidents of sudden puncture by 70%. But the stiff ride of CBZ X-treme might continue as there is no mention of GRS (Gas Reservoir Suspension) in the new X-tremes features list. The new CBZ X-treme will also get Hero Hondas unique anti kick back device which ensures kick lever doesnt kick back. Expect the price of the new cbz X-treme to be slightly higher than the current one. Hero Honda will launch the new CBZ Xtreme in October. The legendary model of CBZ has got a new face & new name of CBZ Xtreme with extreme power and styling. Hero Honda has launched this fully loaded bike in wake of rising contest in 150 cc bikes segment from the other players like TVS and Bajaj. Totally revamped CBZ Xtreme bears highly efficient and capable engine and aerodynamic looks that convert this bike into a Xtreme driving pleasure.

World's biggest two wheeler maker Hero Honda Motors Ltd. has launched CBZ X-treme in the 150 cc segment. Facing tough competition from its key rivals Bajaj Auto and TVS Motors, the Hero Honda company has unveiled this model in the new avatar of CBZ. The CBZ launched in 1999 was a very popular and stylish bike. The all new CBZ X-treme model has been developed with the efforts of the R&D team of Hero Honda. CBZ Extreme powered by 150 cc engine that generates 14 ps of power @ 8500 rpm, this makes CBZ Extreme the most powerful bike in this segment. The powerful CBZ X-treme is equipped with loads of features. Diamondframe type tubular chassis, box-section swing arm, adequate ground clearance of 145 mm with stepped up pillion seat and split grab rail provides the extreme driving pleasure for rider and the pillion rider. This new offering from Hero Honda comes with disc brake and 5 spoke alloy wheel as standard fitment . Hero Honda is one of the Indias leading bikes manufacturing company which has delivered good performances bike to the Indian automobile market. The company has gained much name and fame in very less span of time. The Indian roads are always rushed with Hero Honda bikes. Due to their performances, mileage and affordable price, Indian people are well fan of the Hero Honda company. It has been a long time and the company has not launched any models. This time the company has launched the refreshed version of the all new Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme. The price of the Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme will be around Rs. 68,942. The bike will be available in many colors such as flaming orange, max brown metallic, digital silver, sports red and panther black metallic. Hero Honda CBZ X treme will get a warm welcome from the Indian youngsters who earlier also made the previous version of CBZ a good hit in the Indian market. The bike is provided with good meter facility. The superb Digital-Analog meter of the bike is just eye catching. Fuel meter of the bike also makes the console very clear and unique. Ignition switch of the bike now comes with shutter facility like in other bikes. The look of the bike is just outstanding and will definitely make the rider go mad about the bike. Headlight of the bike provides diamond shine. Engine specifications of the bike remain untouched. Its air cooled engine pumps out a displacement of 149.2cc. Maximum power produced by the bike is around 10.6KW at the rate of 8500rpm. Maximum torque produced by the bike is 12.8Nm at the rate of 6500rpm. The gas reservoir rear suspension is just like the Hero Honda Hunk. The bike is capable enough to produce good acceleration. The bike can hit 60 kmph speed within 5 seconds. The bike will be a good competitor of the Hero Honda Karizma and Honda Dazzler. The good performance delivering bike will lead the Indian roads with its extraordinary look and features. The bike is provided with excellent design and various colors of the bike also make the bike a unique one among others. Seat arrangement of the bike also provides better comfort to the riders on long run. Prism shell LED taillight is also enabled with the bike which enhances the look of the bike from the rear part.

Styling and Design


To me its a handsome looking bike. Many of you would disagree but give it a close look and trust me you wont hate it at least. Head lamp looks conventional and its nothing new compared to the earlier. CBZ, But I like it very much didnt like the first generation Hero Honda CBZ Xtremes headlamp though. Except for the headlamp I have to admit the rest of the bike looks amazing. I too personally dont like the front indicators merging with the headlamp; it would have looked good if it were externally set. To me the rear LED backlight and indicators are just awesome. I also like the silencer; exceptional

Hero Honda CBZ X treme split grab rail and the handlebar with glossy finish. There is one very big letdown and that is the fuel knob, it is just too simple hate it. Fit and finish is typical Hero Honda class finish, Console looks good and ok not anything amazing, though I dont mind being all analogue but always like analogue RPM meter with digital speedometer like the one used in RTRs or Dazzlers. Gears and Brakes: Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme has clocked 2200kms till now. Till my first 1000kms gear shifting was hard but not too hard, finding neutral was easy. But after 1000kms gear shifting has become smooth but certainly not as smooth & slick as the FZs. It doesnt mean gear shifting is worst; its very good and wont irritate you no matter how you use it but dont think its silent you can hear a sound when you shift gears. Front disc brake does its job well but not exceptionally like FZs front disk or RTRs roto petal disk. I wish if it had more bite but theres one thing that it doesnt lock up the wheels easily so less skidding. Front disc brake is just ok and rear drum brake is good and provides adequate stopping power.

Comfort and Handling


The comfort level I have found in this bike is just awesome. The wide seat provides enough space and its not too soft and not too hard thus providing you great touring experience. I have done four 250 trip till now and never have any back ache or any uncomfortable experience. The seating position also aids in this section, it is just too different missing in any other bike (at least I felt so) with rear set foot pegs and it really amazes me. It is such that you can drive by keeping your back straight but you can easily crouch too. You are just too comfortable on it and can enjoy every seconds riding it thats my guarantee to you, but short people may have hard time riding it. Handling in one word is fantastic, bike may look big and heavy (actually it is, carb weight 143kg) but once you ride it all of it vanishes in an instant. When I first rode it I said to myself

Hero Honda CBZ X treme why is it so light? Cornering is fun, to me its corner demon sometimes I think it can read my mind. Trust me in heavy traffic or highway Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme is a gem of its own. Its handling at 100KMPH is very much agile and easy. The stock MRF Tyres provide excellent grip but not the best, the rear 100 section tyre may look skinny to some people but it does its job quite well. Some may complain about the rear shock absorbers but its not as severe as they say. The stock setup is stiff for better handling at high speed though I found it too soft so set it one step stiffer. This suspension is adjustable and those who are having tough time thinking why it is too hard then just set it softer and youll have a comparable better suspension like the gas charged suspension but not like unicorns mono suspension. I dont think you wont like the stock setting of the rear suspension if you are riding solo and want better stability at high speed but if you want pillion riders comfort then you have to set it softer. But if the pillion is heavy then dont bother doing anything, if you cross any speed breakers the suspensions tend to hit the threshold and you will hear a THUD kind of sound though people say this problem vanishes after some thousand kilometers. CBZ Xtremes small turning radius also helps in better handling such as taking U turn and dont worry for your pillion; the big rear seat will take care of it.

Engine and Performance


Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme that is 4 stroke, single cylinder, air cooled, OHC with a displacement of 149.2cc. The CBZ boasts a 5 speed gear box with the usual 1 down, 4 up gear shift pattern and a 156 cc engine that generates 12.8 bhp (9.5 kW) power. The clutch is smooth and gears can be shifted with the slightest effort in the foot.. I always wanted a bike which will have smoothness along with great power delivery and CBZ Xtremes unicorn derived retuned motor provides just what I wished for. Its smoothness is not like the unicorn but enough to make you smile. 12.8NM Torque and 14.4PS of power delivery is smooth through the available rev ranges.

Hero Honda CBZ X treme To me the exhaust note is like music to my ears whenever I drive my bike I listen to it closely. Take it to red line in each gear and it will transform the music into excellent roar. Want to rip it? It goes to 9K RPM at ease and hits 10K RPM but engine becomes harsh after 8K rpm but remains most of its smoothness. It can run at 30KMPH at 5th gear without any hiccups but not at 20KMPH as many would say. I wont say it needs lesser gear shifts but I will say it is happy if you take it over 3000rpm and you know it doesnt have mammoth torque like the FZ. Throttle response is amazing feels like this rush wont end. Youll definitely have adrenaline rush if you take it from 5k rpm to 8.5k rpm. I wont say it doesnt have vibrations, it does have vibrations at the range of 65-75kmph but after then it vanishes but the vibration is so much negligible.

Speedometer
You are definitely going to have great touring experience without any Boredom or tiredness. I hit a top whack of 127KMPH after I completed my run-in and it goes to 100kmph really fast, you wont notice it until you look at the speedometer.

Mileage
Currently Im getting 44kmpl inside the city and 52kmpl on highway under sane riding and 38kmpl inside the city and 42 on highway under insane riding. I expected less than this so very much happy

At high speed theres a slight vibration only at handle bars and foot pegs but not anything to disturb your enjoyable riding. Sorry but I just cant find anything wrong with this engine. Dont worry if any bike overtakes you, the one who overtakes you will enjoy vibrations, loud uncomfortable engine and exhaust note and youll enjoy the smoothness and comparatively less vibration free ride trust me and one more thing we all know how much reliable this engine is.

Verdict:
CBZ Xtreme is for those who want comfort smoothness Hero Hondas reliability along with very good power delivery in a 150cc bike and not to mention it is a very low maintenance hassle free bike. About the mileage factor some may have to compromise with it knowing that its rivals are capable of giving more mileage but CBZ Xtremes overall features mentioned above can be compensated for this. Though its been many years since the birth of this bike, it can still give a tough fight to its rivals. To me its a kind of all-rounder it gives you everything but cant do anything exceptionally. Many may want only raw power then theres RTR many may want pure smoothness with reliability then theres Unicorn many may want style & fun then theres the FZ many may want all of them compressed in a single package then there is Hero Honda CBZ Xtreme.
