ABO and Rh Blood Groups

The ABO blood typing is the system we use to determine a persons blood type. There are four types of blood types a person could have: A, B, AB, and O. These blood types create certain anti-bodies against each other depending on the type. A blood type makes anti-B antibodies therefore a person with blood type A cannot receive blood from a person with blood type B. The same goes for blood type B; they create anti-A antibodies. Blood type AB does not create antibodies against any other blood type, and can then receive blood from any other type. Blood type O makes antibodies against both A and B and cannot receive blood from anyone but another O. The can, however, donate to any other blood type. A persons Rh determines whether or not a person a person has a positive blood type or a negative blood type.
