Each team member cannot look at his or her partners design until the end of the project. When they are done with their first piece they will cut off an inch at the top and send it to the next member. The member will then work off the small strip, and create a new composition and pass it to the third member. At the end all three will be put it together to reveal a surrealist or dream-like artwork. Cut and mount, the final corpses to present their artwork neatly. Dispositions Utilize surrealist elements such as spontaneity, unexpected juxtapositions, and chance to create dream like compositions. Collaborate to create one unifying piece (three finished pieces will be made in total as one student will be working off the others starting piece) Use and care for the computer, and using it as intended, to demonstrate their ability to be part of the art community. _____________________________________________________________________________ _ Pre-assessment Students will first do a drawing of an exquisite corpse to get a better understanding of how to create one. They will also do a mini-collaboration as they are passing them off to the partner. Formative Assessment I will observe students while they are working to see if they are on task and using classroom materials correctly. I will also be available for students who may need extra help. Summative Assessment Students will fill out a self-reflective sheet that aligns with the objectives of the lesson. They also must support their piece through a short writing prompt. (see attached) Procedures: Day 1

Motivation/Hook - To introduce the lesson, each student will do create an exquisite corpse using scrap paper. I will give out directions on what to do, such as folding, drawing, and extending the lines. This will transition into the powerpoint. Duration - Students will read the scholastic art magazine about Salvador Dali. Students will be broken off into think, pair, share, groups and each read a section. Afterwards we will go back together as a class, and share what each group has read. I will show a power point that introduces exquisite corpses, and contemporary graphic artists that have done surrealist game. Students are required that for every picture they add to the composition it must be manipulated through Photoshop. (it just cant be copied and pasted directly from the internet.) Before they start I will heavily stress dream-like scenes normal items with bizarre functions realistic items out of their normal environment (unexpected juxtapositions) made-up creatures or real creatures with exaggerated features that they CANNOT look at their partners pieces Before they begin students may do sketches. They will be working on a standard copy paper size format on Photoshop. Culmination/Close - I will get the students started by showing how to create the proper canvas size on Photoshop. Day 2 3 Studio Time Students will utilize these periods as studio times. I will give them daily reminders of what the objectives are. Within this time frame they should finish their first section. When they are done they will print it out and put it away in their folders. Day 4 - 5 Studio Time At this point students should be finished with their first composition. When they are finished they will make a separate document that will only have one inch of their artwork. Students will pass it on to the next partner, and the next person may work off that. Students are expected to finish their second composition and print it within two class periods. Day 6 -7

Studio Time Students by now should have completed their second artwork, passed it on to the third partner, and have received a strip from their last partner. They may use these last two days to complete and print their third artwork. Day 8 Assemblage and Critique Students will print out whatever needs to be printed. They will get together in their groups and assemble there exquisite corpse by gluing it on a mat board. Each group should have three exquisite corpses, as each student could have a chance starting, working in the middle, and finishing the piece. Each group will have all their artworks laid out, and present their projects. As a class we will discuss if the piece had any theme Modifications Visual/Hearing Impairments For students with visual or hearing impairments, I will make sure they are seated by me to ensure that they can better see/hear me. During the slideshow I can move the student with the visual impairment closer to the projection screen. I can also make detailed handouts for all students to follow along with, so the students with impairments can follow along with the guide whenever I do a demo using the computer. ADD/ADHD To incorporate more movement into the lesson, during the Exquisite Corpse exercise, I can have each student get up and move to the next table rather than passing them off. I can also have a short gallery walk to view all the practice artworks made. Wheelchair All materials will be chair or counter height for the students to reach. The computer room will be set up in a way so a wheel chair can fit through to either come to the teachers desk, printer, and all computer tables.
