Fashion a Fish Aquatic animals are the product of countless adaptations over long periods of time. These adaptations for the most part are features that increase the animals likelihood of surviving in their habitat. When a habitat changes, either slowly or catastrophically, the species of animals with adaptations that allow them options are the ones most likely to survive. Some species have adapted to such a narrow range of habitat conditions that they are extremely vulnerable to habitat change. They are overspecialized and are usually more subject to extinction and death. Design a fish that can successfully survive, live, and reproduce at Del Mar reef. You must choose the kinds of adaptations your fish will have. Each choice you make will take many years to develop. As these adaptations become part of your fishs design, the fish becomes better suited to the habitat in which it lives. The variety of conditions at Del Mar reef allow many types of fish to live together and survive. For this project you must: Front side of the hanging card 1. Write your name on your project 2. Name the fish 3. Describe in detail the specific habitat it is adapted for. (5 points) 4. Create a large 3- dimensional hanging art form that represents your fish. (20 points) Back side of the hanging card 5. Describe in detail, the adaptation and the benefit for each adaptation. A. B. C. D. E. 6. Protective coloration and camouflage Body shape and form Mouth type and feeding behavior Reproduction and behavior Other (at least one more adaptation)
