Projects Action Research; Advantages and Disadvantages of Breakfast in the Classroom: A Diverse Perspective Category specific questionnaires were given to teachers, administrators, randomly selected parents and students, morning cafeteria and janitorial staff, and the school nurse; the data was analyzed using a qualitative research design. Domain 1 Competency 001 003 The study revealed mixed reviews from parents, students, morning janitorial staff, teachers, administrators and the school nurse. Domain 2 Competency 004 007 This nurse data indicate that since the implementation of BIC there have been fewer nurse referrals. This translates to increased instructional time and effectiveness. Domain 3 Competency 008 -009 The research revealed areas for improvement such as the need for additional janitorial personnel and supplies, food choices, and possibly some sharing across grade levels of BIC.

World Vision our Change for Change Project An ongoing project I started four years ago. Our school adopted a 5 year old boy from Tanzania, through World Vision. We have one monthly collection. It is usually more that the $35 donation. We use the surplus during the summer to cover the monthly gift and then clear the account at Christmas, and send his family the extra money.

I initiated these procedures to invoke fairness across athletics. The budget meeting will include the entire Rice coaching community. Athletes talents are acknowledged, nurtured, and honored by the school community. A personal best mentality is coached and expected, this method focuses on integrity. Supports campus mission and vision nurtures responsible citizenship opportunity to learn about others and care for them models serving as an advocate for children promotes multicultural awareness Information is provided to the school community through emails, call outs, and the monthly Falcon Flyer

This project involved meeting with the principal and the school financial clerk. Reading and learning about policy and procedures. Vision to see that our students had a history to be proud of while time consuming, I endured the process.

Interdisciplinary lesson plans are sent out quarterly to go with activity. Teachers have the opportunity to sort and count the money. Word problems are emailed to the teachers and included in the morning announcements once the money is counted.

An excel spreadsheet is maintained and money is deposited with PTO to provide a checks and balances systems for accountability. Since extra money is collected, the system in place is to use funds to cover summer months, then send the family the balance in the account in December.
