Albany County Sheriff Craig D. Apple Sr. is pleased to announce a course in civilian response to active shooter training. This training started out being offered to all Albany County employees, but do to demand, we are offering it to any business or organization within Albany County. During the training, Sheriffs Deputies will provide vital information in order to provide employees with knowledge of what to expect during the incident, what to expect from Law Enforcement, and how to respond to Law Enforcement.

The Sheriffs Office as of this date, has trained over 300 civilian employees at various County installations. In the month of May, the training unit will conduct training for 200 members of the Department of Youth and Families Services.

The training is approximately 2 hours in duration, and is conducted at the requesting business.

This is just another tool, to make sure our residents are prepared in the event of an active shooter occurrence.
