CCSS.Math.Content.3.NF.A.2 Understand a fraction as a number on the number line; represent fractions on a number line diagram. Materials Math Journal 2 pages 200-201 Inch ruler, counters, slate Anticipatory Set Connection Now that weve learned so much about fractions, its finally time to use them when solving number stories! Procedure Math Message: Using your ruler, draw a line segment that is 1 inches ling on your slate. Divide the line segment into inch segments. How many inch segments are there? How many sections do I have? 7 = 7/4 = 1 Solve using counters: Andy bought 24 stamps for his stamp collection. of the stamps were from the US. How many stamps were from the US? 18 stamps (additional problems next page) Group work: Small group - Math Journal 2 pages 200-201 with teacher support Partnerships - Math Journal 2 pages 200-201 Enrichment (independent) - Math Journal 2 pages 200-201.
