Student Classwork and Homework Responsibility Contract

When coming into the classrooms, it is important to be a prepared student. This means coming to class with the materials you need in order to participate in the classroom activities for the day. In order to help motivate students to stay on track, complete work on time and turn it in, I have created a contract for students to help motivate students to come to the classroom prepared. Here are the following policies and procedures for classroom work and homework.

Absent Work: If you are absent, it is YOUR responsibility to email Ms. Valdez or check with a friend when you return to school to find out what your make up work is. You will have one day for each day that you are absent to turn in your work. For example, if you are absent for 1 day, you have 1 extra day from when you return to complete any work that you missed. If you miss two days, you have two days from when you return to complete any work that you missed, etc. After those days are up, your grade will be reduced 10% until your work is turned in. Homework: It is YOUR responsibility to write down your homework correctly in your planner. Homework is written for you on the Smart Board so you can copy what is expected for the week. If you have questions, it is your responsibility to ask questions. If homework is not turned in you will receive a study hall pass to complete your work. This is where honesty is important. For every day that your homework is late, your grades will be reduced 10%. In Class Work: During class work time, it is crucial that YOU are responsible to complete your work. You need to use class time wisely. If the teacher asks you to turn in your classwork, turn it in. Classwork not turned in on time will be considered late and grades will be reduced 10%. Late Work or Unfinished Work: It is YOUR responsibility to turn your work in on time. If your work is late and you were not absent, your grade will be reduced 10% and you will be attending study hall to complete your work. No Name Papers: It is YOUR responsibility to write your name on your papers. There are 25 students in this classroom and it is not always clear whose paper is whose. Be responsible and label your work. If I dont know who it is, I cannot give a grade. No name papers that not claimed, will be reduced until the student claims their work.
It is my goal to help you become responsible citizens of this classroom. It is important to be organized, to be on time, and to be prepared in the classroom. The more work you turn in late, the more your gradeS will suffer. The more you stay on track; the less you have to stress about and the less you will fall behind in class! Most of all you will become an active participant in all classroom activities. Print Student Name: ______________________ Student Signature: _____________________ Date: ________
