Porsche executives were more worried about cutting costs and making profits while the VW executives had more focus on remarkable engineering. Furthermore, Porsche wanted to do away with some of VMs lines that were not making money and VW did not agree with their theory because in their minds they were losing top notched cars, even though they were not making as much revenue. VM chairman Ferdinand Piech felt that these luxury cars were an essential part of VM and getting rid of them would be a very bad idea, mainly since luxury vehicles represented the only segment with a double digit growth rate 2. In my perspective, Wendelin Wiedeking and Ferdinand Piech were competing with each in order for one of them to get what they wanted. They both had different views and felt like the way they wanted to get something done was the only way to do it. They did not do any compromising on either end and in my perspective they ended up hurting each other, especially Wiedeking since he ended up with no job. They should have tried to compromise with each other, even if they didnt like it.
