Linfinito in inglese si rende con to seguito dalla forma base del verbo; To be or not to be is a quotation from Hamlet Essere o non essere una citazione da amleto La forma interrogativa si ottiene premettendo not allinfinito stesso. Le preposizioni semplici di, a da e per, che in italiano possono essere precedere un infinito non sono
mai espresse in Inglese I am here to play with Brian Sono qui per giocare con Brian -- PER APPROFONDIRE LARGOMENTO --An infinitive is the simple present form of a verb used as either a noun, adjective, or adverb. The verb of the infinitive is normally preceded by the word to. When the infinitive follows some verbs as the direct object, the to may be dropped an infinitive phrase is the infinitive plus any complements and any modifiers of the infinitive and complements. L articolo determinativo
The Boys / The Girls
L articolo indeterminativo
Larticolo indeterminativo rende la natura di un oggetto o di un sostantivo vaga o generica. In inglese esso dato da a o an: si mettea davanti ad una parola che comincia per suono consonante; si mette, invece, an davanti ad una parola che comincia per suono vocale. A Boy / A Girl
Laggettivo Attributivo
L'aggettivo attributivo invariabile in genere ed in numero e si colloca sempre davanti al sostantivo a cui si riferisce. That is a famous writer. Those are famous writers. She's a pretty girl. They are a pretty girls. This is an old house. These are old houses. Ma quando l'aggettivo in funzione di predicato collocato dopo il nome a cui si riferice This writer is famous. --- PER APPROFONDIRE LARGOMENTO --There are two main kinds of adjectives: attributive ones normally come right before the noun they qualify, while predicative adjectives come after to be or similar verbs such as become and seem. Most adjectives can serve either purpose: we can speak of a 'happy family' and say 'the family appeared happy.' But some work only one way. Take the sentence 'Clergymen are answerable to ahigher authority.' Answerable is exclusively a predicative; you could not refer to an 'answerable clergyman.' And higher is strictly attributive; you wouldn't normally say, 'The authority is higher.'
-s -ies -ves
Anche i cognomi formano il prulare quando indica un intera famiglia. Il plurale segue la regola gi viste, tranne che per i cognomi terminanti in -y o in -man, che aggiungono sempre una -s. The Foxes The Flahertys Se al cognome viene aggiunta la parola family esso rimane invariato The Fox family Alcuni plurari irregolari
I dimostratiti
I dimostrativi in inglese sono invariabili nel genere e sono usati sia come aggettivi sia come pronomi. This (questo/a) This is a new book. That (quello/a quell') Thats a good sailor. These (questi/e) There are new books. Those (quei , quegli) Those are good sailors.
Ricorda: solo that pu essere seguito dalla forma contratta del verbo
Di Chi ... ?
L'interrogativo italiano di chi?: viene reso in inglese con whose.
"Whose are the scarves in the kitchen?" "The plain one is mine, the striped one is yours." "Di chi sono le sciarpe in cucina?" "Quella a tinta unita la mia, quella a righe tua."
Le forme (the) ... one / (the) ... ones sono usate per evitare la ripetizione di un sostantivo espresso in
precedenza. In presenza di un dimostrativo sono possibili due diverse costruzioni: Whose book is this? Whose is this book? la prima l'unica possibile in presenza di un pronome personale soggetto: Whose book is it? --- PER APPROFONDIRE LARGOMENTO --This is one of those cases where it is important to remember that possessive pronouns never take apostrophes, even though possessive nouns do.

Whos been eating my porridge?
