    UNIT 10 - PEOPLE AND WORK People need to work to live. Jobs help society to function well.

    We receive money for the work we do. This money is called a salary. We classify people into two groups: active population or inactive population. The active population The active population is all the people who can work. They can be:

    Workers. They have a job and receive a salary. The unemployed. They dont have a job.

    The inactive population The inactive population is the part of the population that cannot work because of their age, because they are ill, or for some other reason. They can be:

    Children and students. Retired people ( 65). Others (they dont get money for their work).

    We classify jobs into three sectors of economic activity: primary, secondary and tertiary.
