Interestingly, my interest in statistics started from soccer games. I was

once obsessed with soccer. At that time I even had my own team, but in the
beginning, my team record was very poor. In order to find the causes of
failure, I began to analyze and summarize every game. I just instinctively
listed all the factors I could think of that affected the game, such as player
efficiency, and then entered data of each team member to the according forms,
followed by targeted practices. After that, my team level has been
significantly improved. I gradually realized that this approach could
efficiently solve the team problems. This became one of the major reasons that
I decided to choose statistics as the direction of my research and study in
college, and I deeply appreciated the benefits and pleasure statistics gave me,
even when I was just doing a very simple task.

When I started writing this, my mind flashed back to the

year I was applying. There were tears, happiness, anxiety,

pride, desperation, encouragement, and most of all, the

pursuit. I do not want to brag about my team members here,

this is where dreams come true and where success takes off.
Soon you will realize that the admission of an Ivy League
university is not the end of the story, but the start of another
journey. The life abroad is not as fancy as you have pictured. In
fact, it is never easy: countless late nights in the library,
thousands of miles away from close friends and loved ones, and the
sudden loneliness that hits you at I am. But when I look back,
there is not even a little bit regret because I know why I came
here and with every step I take, I am closer to where I want to
