(Charlotte, NC) On May 17-19, The ninth annual DRUMSTRONG event will be hosted by Scott Swimmer at Misty Meadows Farm (455 Providence Road South) to raise awareness and funds for cancer organizations around the world. Participants in DRUMSTRONG will engage in a continuous drum circle that lasts for the duration of the three-day event, enjoy musical performances, partake in yoga exercises, and much more. The event will feature many Charlotte businesses, such as food trucks, beverage companies, and locally hand crafted art. Swimmer, the founder of this impassioned event, developed DRUMSTRONG after his son was diagnosed with cancer in 2004. Understanding the reality that cancer touches the lives of an astounding number of people each year, Swimmer rose to the challenge of inspiring hope and fostering a supportive environment for cancer sufferers, cancer survivors, and people who have witnessed the effects of cancer in loved ones. Charlotte is the core of DRUMSTRONG, but what began as a local event has now been hosted in 70 cities in 25 countries around the world. Live video streams of all participating cities will be shown throughout the event, with Charlotte being the hub of all the happenings and facilitation. All who participate in DRUMSTRONG join together in the fight to beat cancer, whether side-by-side or oceans apart. The event unites people and cultures through the beat of a drum. It really is an amazing thing to stand back and witness what has culminated over the past nine years said Swimmer. It is encouraging to see so many people come together for this cause and Im honored to have the opportunity to organize the event. Tickets are available to the public and offered to volunteers at a discounted rate. According to the website, DrumsForCures, Inc. is the 501(c)(3) non-profit charity organization that produces DRUMSTRONG events globally in support of local cancer initiatives.
