Independent Practice

2c: Classroom routines and transitions function smoothly. 2d: Standards of conduct have been established. Conduct of students - generally well behaved. Destiny a bit chatty, but mostly well behaved, focused on work. Student asked politely to use restroom, left and returned quickly. 2b: Students questions and comments indicate a desire to understand the content, rather than simply completing the task. - Students are aware of their individual goals and were all using the (shortened) class time productively.

Guided Practice/Modeling Goal/Learning Target Discussed "What I will do in resource" PowerPoint slide each student held accountable for something specific - written on white board. 1a: Outcomes are suitable to groups of students in the class, differentiated where necessary and written in terms of what the student can do. Grouped students together that were working on similar work, helped them think through the process to be successful on their own - continued to answer specific science questions when asked. 3a: If appropriate, the teacher models the process to be followed in the task. 3d: The teacher elicits evidence of student understanding during the lesson. - Frequent question/answer as you helped individuals through their work. Made them explore and talk through answers, not just giving responses. 3d: Feedback includes specific and timely guidance. 3a: Teacher's explanation of content is clear and invites student participation. clarification of specifics on assignment Allyese. 3d: Students are invited to assess their own work and make improvements. - Also something that occurs frequently in resource. Question & discussion techniques (mostly individualized) help students discover answers themselves. 2a: Teacher-student interactions are friendly and demonstrate general caring and respect. Positive reinforcement for students working on assignments.

Summary Notes: 4 of 6 working at your table - 2 others on their own. Students stayed focused for a majority of the class period, comfortable asking questions if they needed help. Overall positive atmosphere in class, reinforcement, "don't you feel accomplished?" - at the end of the lesson.
