INTRODUCTION TO TANTRA VIDYA A REFERANCE ON TANRA VIDYA SUBJECT IN TANTRA VIDYA MODES IN TANTRA VIDYA PRATICES OF TANTRA VIDYA EXPERIMENTS OF THE TANTRA VIDYA AIMS ON TANTRA VIDYA BELIEVES IN TANTRA VIDYA CONCLUSION SUGGESTIONS

INTRODUCTION:-Tantra has been derived from two words: Tan meaning body Tra which means to defend. Which implies that the word Tantra is meant to describe a process through which the body can be defended against all sorts of diseases and inevitable evils. In the literal sense and a more generalized form, though, it means to rule. For example, the word Rajtantra means the rule of a king (raja) and also, the word Prajatantra signifies the rule of the people (praja) or democracy. According to the followers of the Tantra Vidya or the knowledge of Tantra, this is the only knowledge remnant in Kaliyug or the present Dark Age, through which we can fight back all difficulties in our life and live merrily. In contrast to other spheres of knowledge, Tantra is much easier, simple and provides relief instantly. This practice has been prevalent in India since thousands of year ago. Tantra includes the study and worship of paranormal powers and cosmic energy, medicines, mantra or hymns, body energy and carrying out Tantric activities using totkas (certain objects that have been purified under a spell), magical amulet, mantras, human bones, and semidecomposed human and animal dead bodies. Tantra has developed in India as a separate cult. A person desirous to obtain this knowledge has to live in a Tantric Math or monasteries, which are located at some forlorn, deserted place usually a Shamshan Ghat or the funeral place, which is usually a place on the banks of a river where Hindus offer the dead to fire.

A REFERANCE ON TANRA BIDYA:-The first reference to Tantra in ancient Hindu texts is available in Atharva Vedas Narsimhata Upanishad. Tantra has been graded

under seven main Achar or disciplines, which have been stated below in hierarchy:

Vedachar Vaishnavachar Shaivachar Dakshinachar Vamachar Sidhantachar Kaulachar Tantric practices produce instant effect and it is believed that one can achieve even the impossible through it. Jeenes Coqtius of France studied Indian tantra and mantra and remarked that the effects of tantra, mantra and totkas were remarkable, but it was beyond the capacity of the human brain to decipher how they were produced. The great physicist and Noble prizewinner Nelsborn had a horseshoe hanging outside his door. Once a friend of his remarked, Do you believe in such superstitions? He replied back, "It doesnt matter whether I believe in it or not, but it has been extremely lucky for me. SUBJECT IN TANTRA:-The Tantra Vidya consists of: Vanspati (organic substances) Tantra Pakshi (animals) Tantra Ratna (precious stones) Tantra

Nakshatra (cosmic bodies) Tantra Vashi (hypnotism) Tantra Maran (death) Tantra etc. It is believed that Tantra Shastra (Tantra Sciences) originated from Lord Shivas mouth and has in total 64 types. There are also certain Uptantra or smaller versions of Tantra, which are:

Buddha tantra Kapil Tantra Gemini Tantra Vashista Tantra Narada Tantra Garg Tantra Pulatsya Tantra Bhrigu Tantra Bhargava Tantra Yagyavalva Tantra Shukra Tantra Bhrihaspati Tantra Sankhya Tantra. These have been name after the ancient sages and philosophers who produced them.

MODES IN TANTRA VIDYA:-The Tantra Shastra has five major modes of practice viz. Madya, Mans, Matsya, Mudra and Maithun. They are used as an object of sacrifice while practicing Tantra and are explained below:

Madya Madya is obtained from the word Madhu or honey. Thus, Madya means honey or nectar obtained from flowers. Mans Mans implies to a seed of a fruit, vegetables, and other eatables. It also means the meat of any animal. It is believed that a Tantric (one who practices Tantra) transfers his evil being into the body of an animal through his yogic powers and sacrifices it. Matsya According to Tantra, Ida and Pingla are two veins in a human beings body, which are also known as Ganga and Jamuna. Through these a person inhales and exhales. Inhalation and Exhalation are considered two Matsya. A tantric has to control this process of inhalation and exhalation through Pranayam (a kind of yoga). Mudra Mudra refers to the quality in a person to drive away all evils in him and stay away from all sorts of guilt through utmost perseverance and control. This quality can be obtained through intense yogic practices. Maithun Maithun means union. Tantra believes that our body consists of five Kundalis or centers of energy. A Tantric has to evoke these kundalis and unite them together. Thus, it is evident, that Tantra practice is not at all easy but it requires utmost determination and the Tantrics have to bear all sorts

of hardships to obtain all powers. A supreme yogi, having mastery over all aspects of yoga can practice Tantra.

PRATICES OF TANTRA VIDYA:-Tantra defines that only a person who is blind towards others money, impotent towards others wife, dumb towards others criticism, and has perfect control over all his senses is eligible to practice Vamachar and follow Vama Marg (the path through Vamachar).

In Dakshinachar, the five modes of tantra are to be studied deeply and their divine meaning is to extracted, while in case of Vamachar, the five modes are practiced in the literal sense. Vama Marg is usually followed by the practiceners of the Shakt cult (worshippers of Shakti or Mother Goddess of energy). Vamaachar is divided into five disciplines:

Kaulik Vama Neech Siddhant Shakar. Kaulik is further subdivided into: Uttam Madhyam and

Kanishta. The worship of nine forms of energy (Shri kali, Tara, Shri Shodasi, Bhuvaneshwari, Tripuram Bhairavi, Chinnamasta, Dhumavati, Baglamukhi, Matangi and Kamala) is highly prevalent in Tantra. The followers of the Shaiva cult (followers of Lord Shiva) worship spirits. Tantra is also of three types i.e. Satvik, Rajasi and Tamas.

EXPERIMENTS OF THE TANTRA VIDYA:-Although, Tantra sciences can be employed to carry out any sort of task, yet there are twelve major tasks that can be accomplished by it. With the help of Tantra, a person can solve not only his own difficulties, but can also help others in overcoming their problems too.

The tasks that can be cherished through Tantra are stated as under:

To eradicate poverty and lead a prosperous life. To render the human body free from all diseases and lead a long and healthy life. To hypnotize anybody and get your work done through him. To eliminate all family quarrels and troubles. To control the spirits and employ them in your service. To know anybodys past, present or future. To hunt down treasures hidden underground and obtain unexpected wealth.

To defeat your enemies. To obtain anything according to the wish. To obtain gain in general popularity, business, service and success in politics. To become a supreme yogi by gaining control on all sorts of knowledge. To bind down the forces of nature and use them at will.

AIMS ON TANTRA VIDYA:Tantra aims at enhancing each and every aspect of human life, because to attain liberation, one must become perfect. First one must perfect ones physical & mental faculties, and then learn to control them and sublimate them, and then convert and divert them to raise the soul to higher levels of spiritual progress. It enables you to perfect and control anger, hunger, thirst, hatred, ego, concentration, psychic faculties etc. It also teaches you to perfect and control sex, which is a part of our daily natural life. But to pick on this three letter word only and to project tantra as a four letter practice is ludicrous jocundity. Unfortunately quite a few people have projected Tantra as some kind of a witchcraft & medieval sexual ritual. So strong is this myth that today a tantrik is looked upon as the practitioner of some gruesome rituals to hook people for his advantage. Nothing is farther than the truth. The same goes with their interpretation of the word Kama. In Sanskrit the word Kama means desire desires of all kinds like, hunger, thirst to sex. But once again it is sensationalized by playing to the gallery by mentioning only sex.

As one rises higher in the spiritual ladder, one gets various siddhis or what are being described as powers like intuition, mind reading, healing, future gazing, mesmerising etc. At this stage some people get carried away and forget the main goal and succumb to displaying and using these powers to gain money & fame. Fully self-realised gurus like Sivananda, Satyananda, Chinmayananda rise their disciples to their level but these semi-elevated fake Gurus stoop down to the level of their hankering disciples and their crash is imminent. Tantrism is considered to be a reaction to Brahminism, the religion of the privileged. Many Tantrik practices were aimed at breaking the class/caste system, while others flouted convention in lesser ways by using drugs, magic, and sexual intercourse as part of religious ritual, writes Tannahill. Tantrism is also a backlash to asceticism. Rather man pursuing asceticism, which was seen as a denial of the tangible, Tantriks believed that a higher spiritual awareness can be achieved through indulgent (but controlled) sensory experience. The argument is that, if the world is an expression of divinity, what is in it must be divine, worthy to be worshipped rather than renounced," writes Tannahill.

BELIVES IN TANTRA VIDYA:Tantrism believes that if the world is a reflection of the cosmic order, people should seek enlightenment through experiencing it. For a Tantrik, the hill to salvation is lonely, steep and deep. Selfcontrol is the key word. He is advised to use meditative powers, selfdiscipline and manual intervention. For a dedicated practitioner wishing to attain salvation in a single lifetime, the rituals border on the impossible and become increasingly solitary. For days, under the guidance of a guru, he has to cultivate control. For this, the first couple of days he is made to drink one litre of water with his

organ. Once this is achieved, then comes his initiation into salvation through sex. The idea is to have sex with a willing virgin, not ejaculate even once and, at the same time, bring the woman to multiple orgasm. By bringing a woman to multiple orgasm, the practitioner usurps the female energy. He then conserves his own energy (semen) till it starts flowing upwards into his body and reaches the brain to take him to ultimate bliss, control and, thereby, salvation.

CONCLUSION
Tantra is the practical way to attain the ultimate Reality mentioned by Vedanta. To quote John Woodroffe, A subject of great of greater interest and value is the remarkable presentation of Vedantic knowledge which the Sakta Tantra in particular gives (I never properly understood the Vedanta until after I had studied the Tantras) as also the ritual by which it is sought to gain realization (Aparoksajnana). The tantra cult is an important part of Hinduism and Indian culture and therefore new researches should be conducted to remove the false generalizations, misunderstandings and hidden facts of the cult by the qualified. To conclude, sakta darsana or tantric cult is not a new one but as the development and amalgamations of various cults and especially that of Vedanta doctrines lead to a monistic realization through practicality.
