Introduction to Charlotte Danielsons Framework for Teaching

General Course Information: Credits: 3 MSDE/ 45 hours Date/Time: Tuesdays (January 29 May 14) from 4:30-7:30 Location: Fountaindale Elementary School Target Audience: Teachers/administrators of all grade levels Instructor: Carly Pumphrey~ Lead Teacher at Fountaindale Elementary Attendance: More than one absence results in NO CREDIT Overall Course Description: Washington County Public Schools is using a NEW teacher evaluation tool. Are you ready? This professional development opportunity will engage you in learning opportunities to develop a deep understanding of the four domains, 22 components, and 76 elements of the Danielson Framework for Teaching. The tool was designed to promote professional learning, not simply measure it. As you develop an understanding of the framework, you will be equipped to problem solve and make decisions that will enhance your practice. Strategies: Protocols, Danielson texts, technology, and other interactive strategies will be used to promote collaboration and self-reflection with an overall goal of growing professionally. Participants will be expected to set individual goals and implement strategies each week. A professional learning community will develop as participants share artifacts, reflections, and ideas with the group in an effort to learn with and from one another. Big Idea: The Danielson Framework promotes teacher empowerment through collaboration, self-reflection, and professional development that promotes improved student learning. Essential Questions: Reflecting on my current instruction, how does my practice align with the framework? What adjustments can I make to improve? Expectations: Self-assess based on framework Read texts Set goals based on self-assessment Implement strategies between sessions Share implementation and reflection with class Collaborate to refine strategies Participate in 2 goal focused groups~ self-directed learning Complete final presentation Final presentation Options: All must have a clear alignment to Danielson Framework Create and share a Bundle on My Big Campus Share a 10 min video of your goal in action (in your classroom) Engage us: Teach a 10 min lesson to our class
