Be it resolved by the House of Representatives,
the Senate concurring, That the Speaker of the
House and the Speaker of the Senate, acting jointly,
appoint a Sergeant-at-Arms to accompany the Joint
Subcommittee on Charitable Institutions, which is to
visit and investigate the charitable institutions of the
State during the recess, his per diem and expenses
to be included in the general appropriation bill.

Wauerras there has been considerable trouble re-
garding the present conditions at Reelfoot Lake; and
Warerras there has been considerable dispute
among’ the citizens as to their rights or privileges to
hunt and fish in said Jake; therefore
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives,
the Senaie concurring, that a committee of three
members of the House and two of the Senate he ap-
pointed as a joint committee by the respective Chair-
men of the Committee on Forestry, Fish, and Game
in each Honse to sit fifteen days during the recess
(or as much of that time as is necessary) for the
purpose of ascertaining the present status of the
lewal title to said lake property and just what rights
citizens of Tennessee have to hunt and fish on said
lake, and also the terms and conditions upon which
the owners of property on said lake will cede to the
State of Tennessee the easement of shooting andoor

fishing upon such property as they may own or claim,
and for said purpose the said joint committee is
hereby authorized to summon, swear, and examine
witnesses, and is Lerehy given full power and au-
thority to enforce attendance of witness before the
committee and punish any person for contempt who
fails or refuses to comply with their subpenas.
Said committee will report their findings to both
bodies of the General Assembly as soon as practica-
ble after the reassembling of the Legislature after
the recess, that the Legislature may be enabled to
intelligently proceed to take all necessary action re-
garding the conditions of said lake. Said committee
will report all matters that in their judgment is nec-
essary for the Legislature to know regarding the
condition of said property.
Such expenses as committee may have to go to in
this examination will he paid, as well as the per diem
of the committee, during the investigation by the
State upon the same being certified to by the Chair-
man of said joint committee, and the same will be
placed in the general appropriation bill.
