April 15, 2013 The Department of Environment and Natural Resources- Environmental Management Bureau (DENR-EMB), in collaboration with the Pollution Control Association of the Philippines Incorporated Region IV-A Chapter (PCAPI-R4A), is convening the First National Convention on the Philippine EIS System at Manila Hotel, City of Manila, Philippines on 19 to 21 June 2013. The convention aims to promote a common understanding and appreciation of the Philippine EIS System among its various stakeholders. Topics include the significant developments, achievements and improvements in the system in its 35 years of existence. Through lively exchange of information and ideas, the convention will highlight experiences and insights on good EIA practices for improved environmental compliance by various sectors. The convention will also identify challenges and gaps in the implementation of the Philippine EIS System, building on lessons learned and practical experiences of key stakeholders and sectors. ABOUT THE CONVENTION


The convention aims to promote a common understanding and appreciation of the Philippine EIS System among its various stakeholders. Topics include the significant developments, achievements and improvements in the system in its 35 years of existence. Through lively exchange of information and ideas, the convention will highlight experiences and insights on good EIA practices by various sectors. The convention will also identify challenges and gaps in the implementation of the Philippine EIS System, building on lessons learned and practical experiences of key stakeholders and sectors. Participants to the convention are encouraged to involve themselves in: Paper presentation Panel reaction/discussions Product and services exhibit Sponsorships

PAPER PRESENTATIONS
Following are the session topics open for paper presentation: I. Compliance Assessment This session will focus on the strengths and challenges of the Philippine EIS System based on the experiences and insights of the private sector and other proponents of projects. II. Forging Partnership This session will deal with the opportunities and challenges of participation in the Philippine EIS System as seen by national government agencies, local government units, NGOs/POs and other stakeholders. III. Setting the Standards This session will focus on gaps, challenges, strengths and opportunities in the preparation, review and other regulatory aspects of the Philippine EIS System.
