Muttu Sandhu' rocks in Tamil

With a regional flavour: The Muttu Sandhu band members.

Rock music just got a regional twist with a group of young college students forming their own band. Christened Muttu Sandhu, the Tamil rock band successfully staged its maiden performance at Live101, Unwind Centre, Adyar, on October 7. Muttu Sandhu comprises Sathgurunathan (lead vocal), Arun Prasanna (keyboard), Vinayak Oletti (guitar), Cletus Amalan (bass) and Rahul Sridhar (drums). While the bassist is from Loyola College, the other four youngsters are alumni of Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan, K.K. Nagar. The band entertained the huge audience with rock music that pulsated with a very regional flavour. Catchy riffs, great rhythm and keyboard work, combined with powerful lyrics and song writing ensured that the crowd was with them. The band's set list consisted of three original compositions and their energetic performance seemed to rub off on the gathering that craved for more. We are trying to do something honest here. Playing rock music in a regional language we grew up with seems more natural than having our audience look up for lyrics on websites, the band members said. The band can be reached at 95001 72127; 96001 57979.
