Teachers sheet lesson 7: Agree or disagree Goal of the lesson : The students can give their opinion about

values and their importance. The students learn how to express their opinion by using different chunks. The students can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. Step 1 : The former lesson is shortly revised to activate pre-knowledge. The students read the text and answer the questions. Step 2 : Students read the text and determine values which are in the text. Step 3: Pupils answer the questions and discuss the answers in groups of four. One member of each group summarizes the outcome by telling the class which values they talked about. Step 4: The pupils read the chunks on the worksheet and listen to the explanation. The teacher writes down the three sentences on the board. The pupils translate them into Dutch. In a class discussion they determine which of the three is the most powerful. Every chunk is read and pronounced by the pupils. The pupils categorize the chunks in three groups. Step 5: Show the website www.socrative.com on the smart board. On the smart board they can see the outcome, but it is anonymous. On their worksheet they explain their answer. If they do not want to express their opinion out loud they do not have to. After every voting round there is a short class discussion. The following lesson is shortly introduced. The pupils have to prepare their opinion about the debate topic. They write down their opinion
