ABSTRACT

Image processing is a form of signal processing in which the input is an image, such as a photograph or video frame. The output of image processing may be either an image or, a set of characteristics or parameters related to the image. Most image-processing techniques involve treating the image as a two-dimensional signal and applying standard signal-processing techniques to it. This paper aims at processing the real time images captured by a Webcam for motion detection and Color Recognition using MATLAB programming. The results of this processing can be used in numerous security applications such as intrusion detection and in Spy robots. Human quest for an automatic detection system of everyday occurrence led to the necessity of inventing an intelligent surveillance system which will make lives easier as well as enable us to compete with tomorrows technology and on the other hand it pushes us to analyze the challenge of the automated video surveillance scenarios harder in view of the advanced artificial intelligence. Nowadays, it is seen that surveillance cameras are already prevalent in commercial establishments, with camera output being recorded to tapes that are either rewritten periodically or stored in video archives. To extract the maximum benefit from this recorded digital data, detection of any moving object from the scene is needed without engaging any human eye to monitor things all the time. Real-time motion detection and Color Recognition of moving image is a fundamental step in many vision systems.
