From 1995 to 1997, there has been a slow but steady increase in the number of accident from 7562 accidents to 8961 accidents. However, there is a sharp increase of number of accidents occurred in 1998. From 1998 onwards, the number of accident showed an increase of 3894 cases from 1997 to 1998. There are 8961 accidents in 1997 and increased to 12855 accidents in 1998. The numbers of accidents continue to increase to 13855 in 1999, then to 14880 in 2000, 16249 in 2001, and 18910 in 2002. The highest significant increase number of accident, that is 21553 accidents which occurred in 2003 and the lowest number of accident is 7662 accidents which occurred in 1995. The difference between the highest values with the lowest value is 13991. The figures show that since 1995, there has been a rising trend in the number of accidents. The rising number of accidents cases shows that the situation is serious. The last nine years have seen a steady increase in the number of accident. In a nutshell, government has to enforce stricter rules and regulations to check the rising trend in the number of accident. Government should put them into the jail for those who do not follow the law. In addition, government can organize some campaigns and train them on offensive driving. Moreover, the authorities should find out the reasons for this rising trend and improve the situation. In view of the seriousness of the situation, traffic offender should be made to pay heavier dines.
